Energy Rush in Africa: Powering Up Change

Africa is a goldmine of natural resources. As one of the largest and most diverse natural resource providers, the African continent is inspiring and challenging. The world’s growing demand for energy supplies, are inspiring us to gain a better understanding of the land with a comprehensive perspective factoring in economic, social and environmental factors.

Extracting resources remains a vital industry and source of sustainable income for local professionals. Long-term viability both financing and governance is critical to establishing true economic prosperity. Working with the local communities to create more opportunities for those living there is the key to achieving successful future developments.

Fair natural resources management with transparency will create the best outcomes for all involved. The recent oil and gas discoveries in Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia are giving us the perfect opportunities to make a difference as we shift towards a cooperative business model. We also have a unique responsibility to shape economic futures for success.

Easy Skill has recently partnered with a few companies in Gabon on a metalworking factory and in Angola, a floating production storage and offloading organization. Unfortunately following the COVID pandemic, many African missions were placed on hold as safety is our top priority. We are eagerly continuing our plans to launch the Mozambique Easy Skill office as our gateway to the African continent.

Increasing energy needs are creating a demand to invest in sustainable energy resources as well as traditional. Studies are in progress to identify the right opportunities to develop hydropower, solar and biomass sites in the near future. An iconic project is the ‘Desert to Power’, which will cover public energy needs for 250 million people from Senegal to Ethiopia.

The future is exciting for Africa to become a significant player in the energy provider landscape. The Sahel region is poised to become one of the most significant solar energy providers with a capacity to generate approximately 10GW by 2025.

The fact that we need more energy supplies is certainly bringing a silver lining. It’s providing a great launchpad to help Africa unleash its potential and improve its socioeconomic position. When local communities and investors agree to work hand-in-hand to create a better future, we will not only achieve a critical energy transition, but also build sought-after social and financial inclusiveness.
