Pivoting During Difficult Times – Catching the Revenue

The global network is reeling from the impacts on the global import-export business. Without the ability to travel internationally, many businesses are feeling the pinch. Australian companies that are not just exporting goods overseas, but completing manufacturing processes outside of Australia are looking for innovative solutions to ease the crunch.

Offshore business transactions on goods and services are a real problem today.

We’ve heard from many of our clients that they’re struggling with a lack of access to their industrial sites abroad. When work cannot be carried out remotely, companies rely on the traditional method of sending technical international experts overseas. Since this is no longer an option with the current travel restrictions, there’s a serious threat to operations, productivity, and long-term viability.

The supply chain bottleneck is becoming an urgent issue.

The are many reasons to send Aussies abroad from overseeing the commissioning of a plant, conducting factory acceptance testing, leading technical trials or operating staff training on-site. But one thing is certain - we know that Australian engineers are grounded for now. So why not use this opportunity to pivot and look for new talent in a different way.

Looking to local technical experts or technical experts that are able to travel to your manufacturing plants or export destination is a solution that works on many levels. It’s a wise contingency plan. Besides solving the immediate issues for today, it’s a smart business decision that will pay long term dividends. We’ve already seen some progressive companies asking the Easy Skill team to source the right talent in remote locations to alleviate the pressure. Some missions include:

  • Steel Structural Supervision in the Algerian oil & gas sector
  • Mechanical Shutdown Planning for Floating Production Storage & Offloading in Angola
  • Tank Construction Supervision for the Yamal LNG project in Russia

Now more than ever, thinking outside of the box is essential to overcoming adversity.

We are standing in front of a huge mountain and it can feel hard to climb. We’ve always played in a world with open borders and relatively easy movement of people and goods. Now the rules have changed and there’s a lot of uncertainty about how long it will last.

It’s time to focus on what we can control and embrace our critical thinking and innovation to find new ways to adapt. The global Easy Skill team is ready to respond offering the right solutions to help offshore companies continue to share their products and services with the world.
